22nd Annual MLK Day of Service Draws 1,000 Volunteers
From assembling care kits for area food pantries to crafting pet toys for shelter animals and preparing sandwiches and casseroles for local homeless agencies, more than 1,000 volunteers showed up for a 鈥渄ay on鈥 at 麻豆传媒网站鈥檚 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Jan. 19.
鈥淲e know what Dr. King stood for. He stood for racial equality, human rights and so much more. He stood for all nationalities to be able to sit at the table, elbow to elbow and to work together. To be kind to one another. And to give back to the community and to help others in need. And this is what these projects are all about,鈥 said Shawn Cooper, chair of the Day of Service planning committee.
The volunteers 鈥 including 麻豆传媒网站 students, faculty, staff and alumni, as well as local business and community members 鈥 participated in 34 service projects in Galloway, Atlantic City and Hammonton in memory of the late civil and social rights champion.
鈥淎s an Anchor Institution in South Jersey, 麻豆传媒网站 is deeply rooted in the communities we serve,鈥 said President Joe Bertolino to the volunteers. 鈥淵our hands and hearts are building a better South Jersey and bringing our Ethic of Care to life.鈥

$185,000 Grant to Enhance Physical Therapy Program Labs
麻豆传媒网站鈥檚 Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program has been awarded a $185,000 grant from the Bacharach Foundation that will allow the university to enhance its existing facilities into a state-of-the-art research laboratory.
鈥淭his generous grant from the Bacharach Foundation represents a transformational investment in our program at a critical moment,鈥 said Pat McGinnis, the chair of the DPT program and a professor of Physical Therapy. 鈥淥ur students will have access to the cutting-edge equipment and teaching innovations to position them as leaders in the field, and our faculty will have the platform to expand scholarly productivity and drive innovation in patient-centered care.鈥
McGinnis said the grant funding will support the purchase in 2026 of advanced equipment, such as gait analysis and balance assessment systems, diagnostic ultrasound, electromyography (EMG) technology, blood flow restriction training systems and exercise testing tools.
In addition to research advancements, the project emphasizes experiential and inclusive learning, including simulation-based education. The grant allows for the purchase of Community Action Poverty Simulation Kits that will immerse students in the realities of living in poverty and how to approach these challenges when working with clients.
Mizrahi Highlights Spring Performing Arts Center Schedule
Actor, writer, designer and producer Isaac Mizrahi highlights the spring 2026 season of 麻豆传媒网站鈥檚 Performing Arts Center (PAC), which also includes a mix of dance, opera and the music of Motown and Fleetwood Mac.
Mizrahi, who recently starred in the box-office hit 鈥淢arty Supreme,鈥 is an acclaimed fashion designer who starred on the TV show 鈥淧roject Runway All Stars.鈥 Backed by a six-piece jazz band, his show at 麻豆传媒网站 at 7:30 p.m. on April 18 will feature a blend of comedy, commentary and an array of classic songs from Stephen Sondheim to Blondie to Madonna.
鈥淭his spring season showcases the incredible diversity of the performing arts 鈥 from world-class opera and bold contemporary dance to the timeless sounds of Motown and Fleetwood Mac,鈥 said PAC Director Anjanette Christy. 鈥淲e鈥檙e proud to bring such a rich variety of performances to our stage and especially excited for Isaac Mizrahi鈥檚 performance. The PAC offers something for every audience member to connect with and enjoy.鈥

Ospreys Sweep Kean in Basketball Action
The women鈥檚 and men鈥檚 basketball teams each posted victories over Kean University on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at The Sports Center in Galloway.
In women鈥檚 action, a fast start 麻豆传媒网站 past Kean, 54-23. A dominant first quarter and suffocating defense set the tone early, as the Ospreys built a 17-3 lead after one and led 29-5 at halftime. 麻豆传媒网站 limited the Cougars to just 23 points overall, holding Kean to single digits in each quarter for the first time this season. Freshman Bre Evans led the way with a game-high 13 points, while Zemirah Enalls added 10 points and a team-high 19 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. 麻豆传媒网站 forced numerous turnovers and controlled the boards throughout, never allowing Kean to gain traction.
On the men鈥檚 side, 麻豆传媒网站 Kean, 83-70, as the Ospreys used a strong second half to take control. 麻豆传媒网站 held a four-point lead at the break before opening the third quarter on a 9-2 run to push the advantage into double digits. Leading the 麻豆传媒网站 offense was Logan McKee with 19 points, while Charlie Bell added 14 and Ryan Reed chipped in 11. The Ospreys shot 51.6 percent from the field for the game, including 46.7 percent from 3-point range. Kean stayed within striking distance early, but 麻豆传媒网站 maintained separation down the stretch.

Dougherty Named Head Women鈥檚 Soccer Coach on Permanent Basis
After serving in the role on an interim basis for the 2025 season, Courtney Dougherty has head women's soccer coach at 麻豆传媒网站. Dougherty, who has been involved with the 麻豆传媒网站 program as a player or coach for the last 20 years, led the Ospreys to a 7-6-7 record and an NJAC Tournament berth as the program's interim head coach in 2025.
Dougherty was elevated in August after 15 years on the coaching staff at 麻豆传媒网站, which is her alma mater. She spent 13 seasons as an assistant coach followed by two years as associate head coach (2023-24).
Overall, Dougherty has helped 麻豆传媒网站 Women's Soccer record 188 victories during her time on the coaching staff. Including her 65 wins as a player, she has been played a part in 253 of the program's 479 victories (52.8%).

OSPREY NOTES
Writers Gather for 32nd Annual Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway
Murphy Writing of 麻豆传媒网站 hosted its 32nd annual Winter Poetry & Prose Getaway from Jan. 16鈥19, at the Seaview Hotel, welcoming writers from across the region for a long weekend focused on craft, creativity and community.
One of the oldest and largest winter writers鈥 conferences in the country, the Getaway brought together writers of all levels working in fiction, nonfiction, memoir, poetry and songwriting. Participants took part in intensive writing workshops that blended craft discussion, prompts and dedicated writing time.
Beyond workshops, the weekend included open mics, tutorials, networking opportunities, sunrise yoga, an art exhibit, a Story Slam and the Getaway Disco. Shared meals and informal gatherings helped foster connection and collaboration throughout the weekend.

Beginning April 1, the ATM located in Lakeside Lodge will be removed due to minimal usage. Students, faculty and staff will continue to have access to ATMs in the Campus Center (across from the food court) and at 麻豆传媒网站鈥檚 Atlantic City campus in the John F. Scarpa Academic Center.
FAFSA Completion Appointments Available
Do your students need assistance completing their 26-27 FAFSA? The Office of Financial Aid is hosting several FAFSA Completion Appointments throughout the spring semester to assist students in completing their application for financial aid.
Appointments are available at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon on Feb. 3, Feb. 23, March 3, March 31 and April 14. Additional appointments are offered at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Feb. 19, March 19 and April 9. Evening appointments will be held at 6 p.m. on March 4 and April 1.
Students and their FAFSA contributors are encouraged to attend ahead of the state鈥檚 April 15 deadline. Appointments can be scheduled at stockton.edu/contactfinaid through Ospreys Navigate using go麻豆传媒网站 portal login credentials.
Important Financial Aid Dates to Remember
It鈥檚 that time of year again! Please encourage your students to apply for 2026-27 financial aid by the university's March 1 Priority Date. Filing early ensures students receive their aid offer and have plenty of time to complete requirements before the fall bill due date.
If they can't apply by March 1, let's make sure they don't miss the April 15 deadline! Anyone who received TAG or the 麻豆传媒网站 Promise in the 25-26 academic year must complete their 26-27 FAFSA or NJ Alternative Application by April 15, 2026, to be considered for those funds in 26-27.

Confirm Your Ospreys!
Welcome back, faculty! Now that the spring semester is underway, it's time to confirm your Ospreys.
Faculty are reminded to complete the Academic Engagement process by confirming student attendance/academic activity beginning after the add/drop period on Tuesday, Jan. 27. The Academic Engagement process is to be completed by Monday, Feb. 2. The Office of Financial Aid will use this information to make adjustments to student financial aid disbursements based upon each student's confirmed number of credits.
Each instructor will be responsible for confirming student attendance or participation in an academic activity. For online courses, faculty are reminded to include an assignment or discussion activity during the add/drop period so that the student's attendance can be confirmed.
